PRAYER OF MEDITATION O Lord, our Helper, may we look to you when we are at the end of our rope. Teach us to listen to you when times are tough. And fill us to overflowing with love and trust in you. THANK YOU to Jim & Brenda Hackbarth for sponsoring a new American Flag for the Herington Family Flagpole in memory of their fathers who served in World War II, Charles Hackbarth and Laird Ehlert. Thank you for your support and for honoring these American Veterans Stewardship Thought: John 21:6 –“He said to them ‘Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.’ So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.” Won’t the disciples ever learn? Jesus pulled this same trick before. When the odds seemed completely against it, the Lord gave them a command to let down the nets, a command that seemed crazy. But they complied, and He blessed their obedience. When will we learn this lesson, too? UPCOMING EVENTS: Sunday, May 19th – Graduation Recognition / Last day of Sunday School – We will recognize those members in our congregation who will be graduating from high school at the end of the month and have a special message for the children. PRAYER OF MEDITATION Risen Lord Jesus, we are a very visual society, and often we feel we must see everything for ourselves before we say we believe. Forgive us for doubting you just because we have never seen you. Keep our eyes of faith open, Lord, so that we may know in our hearts who you are. Stewardship Thought : John 20:19 – “On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ ” Fear is the opposite of faith; that is the cringing fear we have in the face of something that is hostile to us and more powerful than we are. Our fears constantly hem us in and prevent us from following the Lord’s will. But there is no need to fear. Jesus has conquered. No fear can keep us locked up. We have been set free by Jesus for lives that declare His marvelous deeds. THIS WEEK AT ST JOHN’S FRI Council Agenda Due SUN 9am Worship w/ Communion 10am Sunday School Church Council

Sunrise Easter Service - Sunday, April 21
PRAYER OF MEDITATION O Lord, on this glorious day our tears of sadness turn to tears of joy, our groans of pain change into shouts of joy, and our quiet words of worry are replaced by loud alleluias. May all the transformations that have taken place on this day continue to make all our future days glorious. SCRIPTURE READINGS 21 Psalm 119: 105-112 Philippians 1 - 2 22 Psalm 119: 113-120 Philippians 3 – 4 23 Psalm 119: 121-128 Colossians 1 – 2 24 Psalm 119: 129-136 Colossians 3 - 4 25 Psalm 119: 13 –144 1 Thessalonians 1 - 3 26 Psalm 119: 145-152 1 Thessalonians 4 - 5 27 Psalm 119: 153-160 2 Thessalonians 1 - 3 We would like to take this opportunity to say THANK-YOU to all who have helped during this Lenten and Easter season, through the Messages, Music, Cleaning and Organizing, helping before and during the Worship Services, serving Lenten Meals and Easter Breakfast, or by purchasing Easter Lilies to beautify our church. We are truly blessed to have so much time and talent used toward the service of our Lord and Savior! ANNOUNCEMENTS We remember in our prayers this week our members: Hospitalized in Madison: Billy Anderson, Jr. At Home: Harvey & Velda Anderson At Deerview Meadows (Medford): James Larson Moulder Health Care: Dorothy Klabon Traditions in Thorp: Dennis Rohland In the Military: Elijah & Taylor Zaldana-Washington, Holly Dieball STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT - Luke 24:6-7 – “He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” So Jesus is risen, but is that Good News? What if He is mad at us for betraying Him, for running away at Gethsemane, and for not believing He would rise? The Good News is not just that Jesus is risen but that He is risen to bless us. There is no need to be alarmed. He still calls us His friends and brothers and means to bring us through death to resurrection as well. The Lord is risen; He is risen indeed! PRAYER OF MEDITATION With waving palms, we welcome you, Lord. With shouts of "Hosanna!" we say, "You are here!" Be with us here this week as we remember your journey toward the cross. With sad hearts, we contemplate your death. But with confident hearts, we know that you are carrying out God's great plan of salvation. If the man had refused to let Jesus use it would the work of salvation have been derailed? Of course not. But what an honor for the man who owned this room! It is likewise with us. The Lord needs none of us, but what an honor for God to choose to use our generosity in the work of His Church. Please Note: There will be NO Sunday School classes April 14 or 21 resuming the 28th. PRAYER OF MEDITATION As people plot to kill you, Lord, and danger is all around you, may we take the time to honor you for who you are--the Son of God. A BIG THANK YOU to the Ham Dinner Committee for a job well done organizing and coordinating the event and to all who volunteered their time to help. Please Note: There will be NO Sunday School classes April 7, 14, or 21 resuming the 28th. STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT : Luke 20:16 – “He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When they heard this, they said, “Surely not!” The crowds were shocked at Jesus’ parable because they took the grace of God for granted. They never thought that God would actually take “the vineyard” away from them. But we only have access to God by faith. And we can drive faith and the Holy Spirit away. That is the warning of the parable. The Lord has graciously given us His Kingdom. Let us not take it for granted, but instead let us respond with humble thanksgiving!
